He discovered his singing ability at age fifteen when he was asked to render an item at his church for a youth fellowship gathering. Ricardo is a member of the New Testament Church of God, Ellerslie Spanish Town and a member of the Jamaica Youth for Christ. He is also the former Road Manager for Gospel Recording Artiste Kevin Downswell.
Ricardo is from the Lauriston community in Spanish Town. He is a past student of Jonathan Grant High, as well as the Jose Marti Technical High School. While at Jose Marti, he was the winner of the JCDC High School Jazz Music Competition in the academic year 2003-2004. After successfully completing a short but intensive course in July 2008, he was accepted to the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, where he did studies in Jazz and Popular Music.
In 2007 Ricardo was a semifinalist in the JCDC Gospel Festival Competition, and a finalist in the Jamaica Observer's Gospel Music Face of Fame Competition. From these this experiences he was able to develop his skill as an artist while sharing his testimony with the nation.
On May 16th, 2005 at age 18, Ricardo lost his father, and though this experience significantly affected him, it did not deter him or cause his faith in God to be altered. He expressed that, while seeking comfort, which was at that time hard to find, he found it in Jesus Christ. Now, he wishes to use this experience as a testimony to prove to other young people, that in spite of whatever happens, God is still in control.
Ricardo Smith loves the Lord and he loves music. He has shared the stage with Ministers such DJ Nicholas, Jermaine Edwards, Lubert Levy, Kevin Downswell and Others. He declares that with all his being, he will devote his life to ministry, therefore allowing the Lord to use him to bring young people like himself into the Kingdom of God.
